It's long enough that I can just slide t over my head. The clasp is actually very strong magnetics. If I lay it in a pile the chain will ball up at the end because of the strength of the magnetics.This would be great if you worked around people who might grab a hold of your necklace and pull like, small children or violent patients. It's also great for people who have arthritis in their hands. At the end of the lanyard, there are the three beautiful beads with he black gems. After that, there is a nice solid ring that has a clip attached. It has a small clip and a larger clip with a key ring attached. It's easy to detach and reattach. It's very well made and looks great with any outfit. I am really enjoying my new lanyard.
